Dick’s Sporting Goods Buys Moosejaw From Walmart

Walmart has agreed to sell the outdoor business Moosejaw to Dick’s Sporting Goods. The e-commerce company will be put under Public Lands, which specializes in camping and hiking equipment.

Todd Spaletto, president of public lands and senior vice president for Dick’s, stated, “We admire what Moosejaw has accomplished over the past three decades as leaders in the outdoor sector, and we look forward to the opportunity to share thoughts and learn from one another.”

“We believe there is an opportunity to grow the Moosejaw business and offer interesting experiences and a broader product selection to its millions of devoted customers.”

In 2017, Walmart acquired Moosejaw as part of its digital expansion. Since then, Walmart.com, the retail giant’s internet presence, has developed dramatically. The transaction is anticipated to close next month.

Moosejaw operates brick-and-mortar locations in Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, Michigan, and Missouri, in addition to its online presence.
