Teen Cheerleader Competes Alone After Team Quits

Three Morrill High School cheerleading squad members quit a little more than a week before the state tournament in Nebraska, but that did not stop Katrina Kohel from competing in the event. According to the Omaha World-Herald, the senior told her coach, “I want to go to state and will cheer by myself.” It was the first time that anyone had ever competed individually, and onlookers from rival teams praised Kohel. She finished seventh out of twelve teams in her division, which was better than her school’s prior two years of full strength competition.
