Louis Vuitton doubles size of its Galleria Dallas store

Galleria Dallas is on a roll with a newly redesigned and expanded Louis Vuitton store visible from the new entrance to the mall from the Westin Hotel.

Louis Vuitton will open in the North Dallas mall Friday, just a week after another longtime Galleria store, Bachendorf’s, doubled its size.

Spain’s Mango opened in September and popular outdoor brand Cotopaxi opened its first Texas store at the Galleria, which has a redesigned Westin entrance and a new main entrance facing the Dallas North Tollway where North Italia restaurant is opening soon. The mall has a new 95-foot Christmas tree in its ice rink with a fancy light show making its debut on Black Friday.

The new Louis Vuitton store doubles the space to 6,337 square feet and takes in two adjoining store spaces. The French luxury brand’s newest store will sell men’s and women’s accessories, fragrances, jewelry, leather goods, apparel, shoes, watches and select “Objets Nomades” travel-inspired furniture pieces.

The store will have an on-site artisan who will work with customers to create custom artwork on hard-sided items and a hot-stamping service to personalize leather goods.

The exterior façade is made of metal blades with polished edges to create a composition of the Maison’s signature monogram flower.

Interior walls are finished in custom panels, wallpaper, lighting and furniture in the $1.85 million renovation, according to a state filing. Art is displayed throughout the store including original work by Italian artist Isadora Capraro.

Louis Vuitton, which has operated at the Galleria since the 1980s, was the first and only store for the brand in the market until 2009 when it opened a store in NorthPark Center. It doubled the size of its NorthPark store in 2020 to 10,000 square feet and opened a store in Plano’s Legacy West in 2021. A fourth store in the market opened in 2017 in Fort Worth’s Shops at Clearfork.

Louis Vuitton said in a statement that it has 10 stores in Texas and “this opening reinforces our commitment to the region as a key market.”

The 169-year-old Paris-based brand turned heads in 2019 when it opened a Louis Vuitton handbag workshop in rural Johnson County south of Fort Worth. The facility opened with 150 workers and has been expanding with plans to have 1,000 people making handbags and backpacks in Texas.

Parent company LVMH Moët Hennessy, the world’s biggest luxury goods company, reported a slowdown in sales growth in October mostly due to an absent Chinese customer.

The new Louis Vuitton and Bachendorf’s, both located around the center court’s ice rink view “represent such a beautiful transformation at Galleria Dallas,” said Angie Freed, the mall’s general manager. “Our growing collection of retailers and restaurants from around the world coupled with the exciting new décor and amenities truly cement Galleria Dallas as one of the region’s top shopping and lifestyle destinations.”
