The Production of ‘Daredevil’ and ‘The Penguin’ Has Been Halted Until the End of the Writer’s Strike

Deadline says that work on Daredevil: Born Again and The Penguin has stopped because of the WGA Strike. The Disney+ show and the Max thriller will stay on hold until the strike ends.

Recently, writers from New York have been protesting in front of Silvercup East, where the Marvel show Daredevil is filmed. Because of this, work has been stopped several times, with the most recent one on June 12. Sunrise picketing stopped work on the revival because workers from Teamster Local 817 and IATSE Locals 829 and 52 wouldn’t cross the picket line. So, the rest of the week’s shooting also had to be put on hold.

The Penguin, which is a parody of The Batman and has often been targeted by picketers from WGA East, has also had trouble.

Daredevil: Born Again is now three months into its eight-month production plan for a new season of 18 episodes on Disney+. Filming is happening in and around New York. But because of the strike, writers and executive producers Matt Corman and Chris Ord can’t come to work. The latest episode is about Daredevil, played by Charlie Cox, who is also known as Matt Murdock, a lawyer who fights crime at night. Vince D’Onofrio plays Wilson Fisk again. Fisk is the mob boss who goes by the name Kingpin.

On the other hand, Matt Reeves’s The Penguin is an eight-part thriller in which Colin Farrell plays the Batman villain again, and Cristin Milioti plays Sofia Falcone, the main character. DC Studios and Warner Bros. Television make the show.
