Obituaries in West Palm Beach, FL | The Palm Beach Post

56, passed away on Thursday, November 9th, 2023.

Born on December 22, 1966 in Atlantis, Florida.

Eric was blessed to be born into a large family, the youngest of six children. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic School, Lake Worth High School and New England Institute of Technology where he earned his associate degree in automotive technology. He was owner and manager of his company, Guthrie Hauling Company, since 2006.

He was an automotive enthusiast, loved old cars, and his dream was to rebuild an Oldsmobile Cutlass 442, which was the first car he owned.

Eric had a deep, abiding faith in the Lord; he began each morning with prayers for his friends and family. He had a love for life, which could be heard in his bellowing laugh that rolled down into the silly giggle that we all know and love.

Eric was a resourceful kind of guy and liked to figure out ways to use different things he found. He frequented “the big store” for things that someone might need or be able to use. Eric loved all animals, especially his dogs, Katy and Leila. He fed the birds every morning, and cared for any creatures in need that crossed his path. Being a mechanic at heart, Eric found much joy in fixing or teaching others how to fix their car and also by taking care of everyone around him. Whether it was a broken down car or a loved one in need, he always made things “just right”.

He will be dearly missed by his wife Lucretia “Tisa” Bracey, daughter Erin (Brandon) Gamble, son Joseph (Jenna) Guthrie, grandson Archer Gamble, mother Shirley Altman Guthrie and siblings Cindy (Bob) Leahy, Bernard “Chip” (Irene) Guthrie Jr., Mark (Gail Delgado) Guthrie, Christy (Robert) Foley, Patrick (Michelle) Guthrie, a stepson, Daniel Vasile, a stepdaughter Amanda (Bill) Mangan, and many nieces and many nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Bernard “Bud” Guthrie Sr.
