Inside Meghan Markle’s First Marriage Before She Married Prince Harry

People have called Meghan Markle’s choice to end her first marriage “brutal” because she didn’t warn her ex-husband before sending him the divorce papers.

Before she married Prince Harry, the former “Suits” star was married for three years to film director Trevor Engelson.

Before they got married in Jamaica in 2011, they had been together for seven years.

After two years of a long-distance marriage, the couple broke up in 2013. A royal author said that Meghan was the one who ended the marriage, blaming irreconcilable differences.

And since Meghan and Trevor were not living in the same city when they broke up, Meghan had to mail Trevor her wedding and engagement rings.

Andrew Morton wrote in his book Meghan: A Hollywood Princess that a rich entrepreneur friend said the marriage ended so quickly that Meghan sent Trevor her diamond wedding and engagement rings back to him by registered mail.

“Another person confirmed that Meghan made the choice to end the marriage, and that it came “out of the blue.”

After her divorce, the Duchess of Sussex started dating Prince Harry after a mutual friend set them up in 2016.

After marrying the duke in 2018, the actor became part of the royal family.

The next year, Engelson got married to Tracey Kurland, a nutritionist and multimillionaire heiress.
