MATTER OF HOURS. ALL RIGHT. NOW, SACRAMENTO STATE IS PUTTING A FOCUS ON INNOVATION. ALL WEEK THEY’RE HOSTING FORUMS TO CELEBRATE ENTREPRENEURS. AS I DEAL WITH MY OWN TECHNOLOGY HERE ACROSS THE SACRAMENTO REGION. EVAN BROOME JOINS US NOW. HE’S THE PRESIDENT OF THE HIVE THAT’S A STUDENT ENTREPRENEURSHIP CLUB AND BOY, YOU HAVE A WIDE RANGE OF ENTREPRENEURS RIGHT ON CAMPUS THIS WEEK. TALK ABOUT HOW HELPFUL THAT IS IN AN ACADEMIC ENVIRONMENT, HEARING DIRECTLY FROM THESE BUSINESS LEADERS. YES. WELL, FIRST OF ALL, WE APPRECIATE YOU GIVING US YOUR TIME AND SPOTLIGHT. BUT YEAH, YOU KNOW, I’M VERY BLESSED AND GRATEFUL TO BE IN SACRAMENTO SURROUNDED BY SO MANY TALENTED AND SUCCESSFUL INDIVIDUALS. AND A LOT OF THOSE PEOPLE ARE COMING TO OUR UNIVERSITY THIS WEEK TO HELP MENTOR OR CONSULT WITH AND OFFER RESOURCES TO STUDENTS WHO ARE ALSO BECOMING BUSINESS OWNERS. I MEAN, THIS JUST SOUNDS LIKE A REALLY GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY FOR FOR PEOPLE AT THIS STAGE IN THEIR LIFE. SO YOU’VE GOT LIKE SEVERAL NETWORKING EVENTS GOING ON THIS WEEK. SO IF YOU CAN JUST TALK TO US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE FOR STUDENTS LIKE YOU WHO ARE STILL IN SCHOOL. I MEAN, MAYBE PEOPLE ARE LIKE THINKING IN THEIR MIND LIKE, I DON’T KNOW HOW TO GET STARTED. YEAH, SURE, SURE. WELL, I CAN ATTEST TO THAT. GETTING STARTED IS DEFINITELY THE HARDEST PART. BUT WE DO OUR BEST TO NOT ONLY PROVIDE A SPACE, BUT ALSO GUIDANCE TO STUDENTS WHO WANT TO GET START BEING THE HIVE PRESIDENT RIGHT NOW. IT WAS MY RESPONSIBILITY TO SET A CURRICULUM AND PROGRAM FOR ALL OF OUR STUDENTS. SO. SO ALL SEMESTER WE’VE BEEN SETTING GOALS, WORKING ON HOW WE’RE GOING TO ACHIEVE THEM. AND DUE TO OUR GREAT LEADERSHIP. THANK YOU TO CAMERON AND ARLENE FOR BOTH HELPING THE PROGRAM RUN SMOOTHLY. BUT WE’RE HERE TO INNOVATE, BE ENTREPRENEURS AND EVEN JUST MOTIVATE THE STUDENTS, YOU KNOW, GET THAT LITTLE NUDGE TO GET GOING. ONE THING THAT STOOD OUT TO ME WAS SOMETHING CALLED A MENTOR SPRINT, WHICH WAS DESCRIBED KIND OF LIKE SPEED DATING, EXCEPT FOR SMALL BUSINESS FOUNDERS OR STARTUPS AND MENTORS. HOW DOES THIS WORK? SURE. SO OUR MENTOR, SPRINT, IS GOING TO TAKE PLACE ON WEDNESDAY MORNING. WE’RE GOING TO BE BRINGING IN ENTREPRENEURS FROM ALL OVER SAN MENTO. AND HOW IT WORKS IS YOU SPEND 15 MINUTES WITH EACH MENTOR AND YOU GET TO SEE DIFFERENT PEOPLE’S TAKES ON YOUR BUSINESSES, ON YOUR IDEAS. AND AGAIN, IT COMES DOWN TO JUST THAT, THAT GUIDANCE AND ENCOURAGEMENT THAT THAT YOU CAN DO IT. JUST HOW ARE WE GOING TO DO IT. YEAH. AND SOME OF THOSE RELATIONSHIPS THAT YOU’RE FORMING WHEN YOU’RE STILL IN SCHOOL, THAT SOUNDS REALLY VALUABLE. YEAH. OH DEFINITELY. I EVEN THOUGH I SOMEWHAT TEACH THE PROGRAM, I’VE LEARNED SO MUCH FROM MY ALL MY STUDENTS THAT ARE IN IT, MY TEAM MEMBERS, MADDIE LANE AND HANNAH CHAVEZ, THEY HELPED ME OUT SO MUCH. BUT YOU ARE WHO YOU SURROUND YOURSELF WITH, SO I’M GLAD WE’RE PROVIDING A POSITIVE SPACE. ALL RIGHT. WELL, EVAN BROOME, WE HOPE TO SEE YOU IN FORBES MAGAZINE SOMEWHERE DOWN THE LINE ON THE COVER. THAT’S RIGHT. AND WE WISH YOU LUCK THIS WEEK WITH ALL OF THOS
