In Entertainment News Netflix Pricing Decrease, MCU Plateau, and Ernie Hudson Discusses Hollywood

Netflix Reduces Prices

In the coming weeks, Netflix still intends to tax users for sharing passwords, but the streaming giant will reduce costs for millions of consumers. Customers in more than 30 other countries, including several in the Middle East, sub-Saharan Africa, and Europe, will enjoy a monthly subscription price reduction of between 20 and 60 percent. The move comes as rival streaming services seek to boost subscriptions and revenue.

Marvel Studios’ Success

Is it already too late for Disney and Marvel Studios? If you measure success just by box office receipts, then the answer is no. Yet, judging by the audience and critical reception, there may be some truth to the notion that the MCU is losing some of its cachet. During its four-day opening weekend, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum Mania grossed $120 million but only garnered a B CinemaScore from audiences. Four of the studio’s recent films, including Thor: Love and Thunder and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Crazy, have gotten similar scores. Quantumania received only 48 percent on Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer, around the same as Eternals, which was released in 2021.

Ernie Hudson in the film “Ghostbusters”

Ghostbusters is a proven classic that has endured the test of time, as evidenced by its revival in the 2016 and 2021 remakes and reboots, but for one cast member, the experience was memorable for other reasons. Ernie Hudson, who played Winston Zeddemore in the 1984 picture, told SiriusXM’s Gary Dell’Abate and Rahsaan Rogers on The Howard Stern Wrap Up Show that the studio made his filming experience uncomfortable. “The path was not an easy one. “Psychologically speaking, Ghostbusters was the most challenging film I’ve ever made,” he remarked. Hudson remarked that he was added to the ensemble in the midst of filming and that studio execs were unwelcoming.
