Three people taken to hospital after 2-car crash on Syracuse’s South Side


SYRACUSE, N.Y — Three people were injured early Friday when two cars collided on Syracuse’s South Side, according to police and fire officials.

The cars, a Chevy Trailblazer and an Acura MDX, crashed at about 1:33 a.m. Friday at South Salina Street and Wood Avenue, said Sgt. Thomas Blake, a Syracuse police spokesperson.

The Acura driver was unconscious when found trapped inside the car and rescued by firefighters, police said. The passengers inside of the Chevy had to be extricated by firefighters, according to Syracuse Fire District Chief Matt Craner.

Fire officials said one of the cars was found on its side while the other suffered heavy damage to the front.

Three people were taken to Upstate University Hospital, police said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, police said.
