Kawartha Lakes – The Pinewood Water Treatment Plant is set to undergo construction from Monday November 20 to Friday November 24, subject to equipment delivery.

The Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA), on behalf of Kawartha Lakes, operates and maintains the Pinewood Water Treatment Plant for the community of Pontypool. As part of life cycle replacement work for pipes within the facility, it will need to be taken offline for approximately five days.

Please note that this construction will not cause any interruptions to the regular drinking water supply as potable bulk water will be transported in to temporarily service the community while the water treatment plant is offline. During construction, impacted residents will be able to use their water as they usually would but they may notice a slight difference in taste and odour. Please be assured, the water is safe to drink.

BGL Contractors Corp. has been hired to complete the work at the facility. The process of this work is strictly regulated and licensed by the Ontario Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP). The completion of this work will ensure the longevity of the treatment facility and the continual supply of safe drinking water to the residents of Pontypool.

During this period of construction, residents can expect to see heavy trucks hauling bulk potable water to service the community and there is a possibility of increased noise and vibration in the immediate vicinity of the Water Treatment Plant during the work.

The municipality, along with OCWA and BGL Contractors Corp., will do their best to minimize any disturbance to the local community.
