Red Flash sign guard from New Jersey

LORETTO — Saint Francis University men’s basketball head coach Rob Krimmel has announcing that Jeremy Clayville has signed a National Letter of Intent. Clayville will enroll at Saint Francis in the fall of 2024.

Clayville is a senior at St. Joseph Metuchen in New Jersey.

A 6-foot-0 guard, Clayville was named to the all-conference first team in his first three seasons of high school and was named all-state honorable mention as a junior. Last season, he averaged 18.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game to help St. Joseph Metuchen make it to the state championship.

With the signing of Clayville, Saint Francis has given out its allotment of 13 scholarships for the 2024-25 season with the 12 players on the current roster expected to return next season.Mounties earn first win of season

CRESSON — The Mount Aloysius men’s basketball team picked up their first win of the season Friday night, thanks to an 86-72 victorty over Houghton.

The Mounties (1-3) got 25 points from Will Hagwood and 13 points from Trent Ramirez-Keller. Reggie Priah contributed 12 for the Mount, which led 36-31 at halftime.

De’Von Haggans added 10 points and 16 rebounds for the Mounties,w ho also got 12 bards from Priah.

Houghton (1-3) was led by David Rosa and James Wang, who each had 14 points.

The Mount is at Penn College on Tuesday.

Hurricanes triumph in Bahamas

NASSAU, Bahamas — Matthew Cleveland scored 18 points, Nijel Pack added 16 and No. 12 Miami topped Georgia 79-68 on Friday in the opening round of the Baha Mar Hoops Bahamas Championship.

Wooga Poplar finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Hurricanes. Bensley Joseph also scored 13 for Miami, and Norchad Omier battled through foul trouble to score 11.

Blue Cain scored 18 for Georgia, and Noah Thomasson added 14 and Jabri Abdur-Rahim finished with 13 for the Bulldogs. Georgia fell to 5-22 over the last five years against opponents ranked in the AP Top 25.

Freshman sparks Wildcats

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Freshman Reed Sheppard scored 25 points to lead No. 16 Kentucky to a 101-67 win over Stonehill on Friday night.

Sheppard added seven assists and three steals to lead four players in double figures. Kentucky made 17 3-pointers, including 10 in the first half.

Rob Dillingham, also a freshman, scored 20 points for Kentucky, and Antonio Reeves and Tre Mitchell added 15 each. Max Zegarowski and Tony Felder led Stonehill with 15 points each.

Spartans cruise past Butler

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Tyson Walker scored 21 points, including 16 in the first half, and A.J. Hoggard added 14 to lead No. 18 Michigan State to a 74-54 victory over Butler in the Gavitt Tipoff Games.

Malik Hall scored 12 for the Spartans, who moved to 4-0 in the Gavitt Games and have won four of the last five meetings with the Bulldogs.

Duke has no trouble with Bucknell

DURHAM, N.C. — Mark Mitchell scored a career-high 20 points and No. 9 Duke rolled past Bucknell 90-60. Mitchell, a sophomore forward, shot 8 of 13 from the field.

He was one of five Blue Devils with at least one 3-pointer. Jared McCain made five 3s on the way to 17 points. Tyrese Proctor had 13 points and Kyle Filipowski added 10 for Duke.
