St. Thomas, U.S.V.I. – The Fordham University Rams continue the 2023 Paradise Jam by taking on the Abilene Christian Wildcats in a winner’s bracket game in the University of the Virgin Islands Sports and Fitness Center on Sunday, November 19 at 5:45 p.m. (ET).
Join the Ramses Challenge, a philanthropic initiative supporting our student-athletes. Pledge a set amount for each rebound, offensive rebound, steal, or assist. All proceeds are tax-deductible and go directly to the men’s basketball program. There is also an option to make a one-time gift to men’s basketball.
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Brad Wells (PxP) and Kevin Lehman (analyst) announcing as well as broadcast on the WFUV Sports YouTube page with Miles Grossman (PxP) and Kris Pursiainen (analyst) behind the mics.
Fordham enters the game with a 2-1 record and is coming off a 77-64 win over Norfolk State University in the first round of the Paradise Jam on Friday afternoon while Abilene Christian is 2-2 on the season after a 77-71 win over San Jose State University in the Paradise Jam on Friday afternoon.
Sunday night’s contest will be the first meeting between Fordham and Abilene Christian on the hardwood.
Notes
• Over the last two years, Fordham is 6-1 in multi-team events (MTEs), sweeping all three games at last season’s Tom Konchalski Classic after going 2-1 at the 2021 Gulf Coast Showcase to capture a third-place finish.
• The Rams are 1-2 all-time versus the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) (1-0 vs. Grand Canyon and 0-2 vs. UT Arlington).
• The win over Grand Canyon came in the 2019 Paradise Jam as the Rams defeated the Antelopes, 70-58.
• This is Fordham’s third appearance at the Paradise Jam, playing in the tournament in 2005 and 2019.
• Senior guard Japhet Medor leads Fordham in scoring (13.7 ppg) and assists (3.3/game) while sophomore Joshua Rivera is second in scoring (10.3) and second in rebounding (5.7).
• Senior forward Abdou Tsimbila tied his career-high with 16 points in the Norfolk State win while also grabbing nine rebounds, while redshirt freshman guard Angel Montas netted a career-best ten points.
• The Rams did not lose any student-athletes to the transfer portal from 2022-23.
• The Rams close out play at the 2023 Paradise Jam at the University of the Virgin Islands Sports and Fitness Center on Monday, November 20.
• If Fordham wins, the Rams will play the winner of the Kent State/Missouri State game for the Paradise Jam championship on Monday at 8:00 p.m. (ET)
• If Fordham loses, the Rams will play the loser of the Kent State/Missouri State in the third place game on Monday at 5:145 p.m. (ET).
