Lubavitch of Scotland, headed by Shluchim Rabbi Chaim and Sora Jacobs, recently organized “A Night of Song and Hope” to uplift members of the Jewish community.
Over 100 people gathered for it at the Giffnock Newton Mearns Synagogue in Giffnock with Israel on their minds, and mounting threats against Jews worldwide.
He told the crowd that this was the time to increase the observance of Judaism, encouraging participants to take on another Mitzvah for Israel.
The evening was catered by the L’Chaim’s Kosher Caterer and was opened with reciting Shema Yisroel.
Participants helped donate funds to sponsor a medical bag, 2 defibrillators, and other urgently needed items for United Hatzalah of Israel.
United Hatzalah of Israel is the largest Emergency Medical Service organization providing the fastest emergency medical first response throughout Israel. As Hamas declared war on Israel, their services have increased, resulting in many more lives saved.
At the center of the evening was a concert by Sholom Jacobs, a renowned singer and Chazan who hails from Glasgow and currently resides in the Five Towns of New York.
Singing some favorite Jewish tunes, Jacobs was accompanied by musicians Shimon Santhouse and Lipa Tomlin of Manchester and Cantor Eddie Binnie of Garnethill Synagogue.
“It was a night of music, song and inspirational messages connected with the times we currently live in,” said Rabbi Jacobs.
