In response to Fred Bidwell’s Nov. 12 guest column, “Lifeline for the arts could be at risk,” criticizing the arts funding agency Cuyahoga Arts and Culture:
Cuyahoga County artists have sat through years of listening and public comment sessions ad nauseam. Artists rarely get responses back from Cuyahoga Arts and Culture (CAC). The dwindling attendance at public meetings is discouraging. Artists attending these public meetings are weary, distrustful, and feel defeated by CAC because they don’t have hope of being any part of the change. Artists feel used.
CAC wants to be right over its authentic willingness to work with artists in the spirit of developing equity and fairness. I have lost all confidence in this agency.
