AROUND THE LAKES: Auburn BID hosts holiday parade, promotions

AUBURN — This Cayuga County downtown will host a holiday parade at 5 p.m. Nov. 25.

It begins at the corner of East Genesee and North Fulton streets, atop East Hill. The route travels west along Genesee Street, through the heart of downtown, and turns left onto William Street. It continues around the City Parking Garage on Lincoln Street and ends at Memorial City Hall.

Beginning at 2 p.m., the NYS Equal Rights Heritage Center will host live musical performances by the Auburn Chamber Orchestra, followed by the Julie Howard Trio. Children can join in on the fun offered by the Taste NY Market. Staff have planned special free holiday make-and-take craft activities. To take the chill out of the air, hot chocolate, coffee, mac & cheese and chili will be available for purchase.

Winner of the best floats will be announced following the parade, at the city’s tree-lighting ceremony, by City Councilor Jimmy Giannettino.

As tradition, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be the featured highlight at the end of the parade, on the Healing H’Arts Equestrian Center’s float. After the parade, they will be on the steps of City Hall visiting with folks.
