Travon Walker Foundation Donates 444 Turkey Dinners

The second annual turkey giveaway for the Travon Walker Foundation took place at the soccer fields behind the Thomaston-Upson Civic Center on Saturday, Nov. 4.

Unlike last year, which was a cool and rainy day, the 2023 turkey giveaway for the foundation took place under sunny skies and included almost double the turkeys from last year.

During the afternoon, the foundation distributed 444 turkey dinners, including whole turkeys, macaroni and cheese, sweet potatoes, green beans, and corn.

According to Travon’s father, Stead Walker, the giveaway is another chance to give back to the community “that gave so much to Travon.”

Walker thanked those who helped make the giveaway bigger and better.

“We did have some help from our local Home Depot, our local Walmart, and our local Ingles. We thank them for their support. We also thank Mr. Al, he knows who he is,” Walker added.

“It’s a blessing to have all the volunteers come out. We have roughly 50 volunteers here today, family, classmates of Travon, and friends of the community. It worked out just great and we’re thankful for that.”
