Jimin, Jungkook, V, and RM of BTS have officially begun their military recruitment procedure.
On Wednesday, November 22, BigHit Music issued an official statement on behalf of the members, stating that the remaining four members of the popular K-pop band have “initiated the military enlistment process.”
“The artists are preparing to fulfill their military service duties. We will inform you of further updates in due course,” the message said, according to Scoompi.
“We ask you for your continued love and support for RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook until they complete their military service and safely return. Our company will spare no effort in providing support for our artists.
In South Korea, all able-bodied men are required to serve in the army for at least 18 months. In the instance of BTS, however, there has been a years-long dispute over whether they will be granted an exemption.
The country has historically granted exemptions to Olympic medalists and some classical musicians, but K-pop stars are not eligible under the current policy.
As a result, Jin was the first member to enlist last year, followed by J-Hope in April.
Meanwhile, Suga began his duty in April.
