State Rep. Frank Burns, D-Johnstown, announced that new tax credits of $35,570 have been awarded to support a workforce training project.

Burns said the tax credits will support a project by Johnstown Area Regional Industries to train five area residents in automotive technology at the Greater Johnstown Career and Technology Center.

Burns said that in addition to the local funding, more than $1.3 million in tax credits was awarded to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, which serves Cambria County and 10 other counties in the region.

The funding is part of a package of tax credits approved through the Department of Community and Economic Development’s Neighborhood Assistance Program.
