Early on Thursday morning, while many were still resting up ahead of Thanksgiving dinner preparations, a crowd of go-getters assembled along West 2nd Street to run the annual Frederick Turkey Trot.

Many of the runners wore the event’s commemorative maroon shirt. Others showed up in tutus, festive hats and even full-body turkey costumes. Before the race began, people stretched, drank water and ate bananas to avoid cramping.
