Cat Haven raised more than $75,000 at its annual Cat Tales & Cocktails “Something’s Brewing” fundraising Halloween party on Oct. 28 at the Crowne Plaza.
The nonprofit organization will use the money to help support its no-kill mission.
More than 150 guests enjoyed live entertainment by Partly Cloudy, as well as silent and live auctions, a wine pull, a costume contest and a buffet from Crowne Plaza’s chefs.
As part of the evening’s festivities, Executive Director Holly Carey unveiled an award presented to Cat Haven by Best Friends Network in recognition of the organization achieving no-kill status during calendar year 2022 by exceeding a 90% save rate for animals in its care.
Cat Haven has maintained no-kill status since 1999 and its actual save rate in 2022 was over 98%. While 16 organizations received the award in Louisiana, Cat Haven was the only organization in the Greater Baton Rouge area to be recognized.
