Vanessa Bryant Receives $28 Million in Compensation for Helicopter Crash Photographs

Vanessa Bryant and her family will get roughly $30 million in a settlement with Los Angeles County over allegations that its sheriff’s and fire departments communicated graphic photographs of her late husband and daughter following their deaths in a helicopter crash in January 2020. Totaling $28,85 million, the final payout comprises $15 million. Due to a clerical error, Vanessa Bryant’s judgment against the county from a two-week civil trial last year was reduced from $16 million to $8 million. The exact amount is still pending court clearance, according to USA Today. “This marks the successful conclusion of Mrs. Bryant’s valiant fight to make those responsible for this horrible behavior accountable,” her attorney stated in a statement released Tuesday. “She fought for her husband, her daughter, and any community members whose deceased family members were treated with the same disdain. We hope that her trial triumph and this payment will end this practice.”
