New things are coming to the former spot of the Corsicana Garden Chinese restaurant, located at 111 Northwood Blvd. The restaurant closed its doors on June 23, but the building has found a new life and owners.

John Paul and Lora Plemons, the owners of the Tastytown Cafe food truck, are expanding their business with a physical location, tentatively set to begin operation by Jan. 2, 2024 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., five to six nights a week.

Though the Plemons family got their new business keys on Tuesday, the Tastytown Cafe food truck will be operating in front of the location until their projected opening date, serving up burgers and fries. With a new physical location, there are plans to expand Tastytown’s menu.

“We are excited about serving our best burgers to the community from a real building,” John Paul Plemons said. “We will expand the menu as we go, as well as offering indoor and outdoor seating. We will also have a meat counter inside and sell select cuts of Plemons Beef.”

The mentioned cuts include: Ground beef, steaks, fajita meat, and more to go along with their new delivery options.

Tastytown Cafe is also currently hiring for full and part-time positions. Applications will be available at the food truck in the near future.

This is not the first time the little Northwood Blvd. building has been home to burgers, fries, and fast food fare. Previous business have ranged from Berry’s Burger Inn, Scotty’s, and Williams Chicken. Now the tradition continues for a new generation.
