The Guam Women’s Club celebrated the season of Thanksgiving and gratitude by giving back to local organizations at its Nov. 17 general membership meeting.
The organization said $8,000 in proceeds from the club’s October Hallo-Wine fundraiser was donated to the Guam Chapter of the American Red Cross and the Edward M. Calvo Cancer Foundation.
More than $2,000 worth of new clothing, shoes, electronics, games, and essentials for teens were collected from members during the clubs’ first Gifts for Teens holiday drive, and were donated to teens seeking shelter at Sanctuary Inc. and the Department of Youth Affairs.
The Guam Women’s Club is a non-profit organization established in 1952 to help the island recover from the devastation of World War II. For 71 years, members of the club have developed and maintained programs to support the welfare, education, and health of island residents with an unyielding mission, “To work toward providing a brighter future to our island residents.””
