This week, more than a half-dozen asteroids, including three of “skyscraper size,” are expected to pass near Earth. However, NASA astronomers say there is no cause for concern since they are all forecast to miss our planet safely. According to NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, two of them, 2012 DK31 and 2006 BE55, have already passed by Earth during the past few days. Both were over 3.5 million miles from the point of collision. On Wednesday night, the bus-sized asteroid 2023 DJ1 will pass by, followed by a smaller one on Thursday. At least three fly-bys are scheduled for Friday, including an asteroid the size of a big sports stadium, 2007 ED125, which will pass Earth at a distance of little under 2.8 million miles. NASA forecasts show no space rocks will collide with Earth within the next century.
