The man whose body was discovered in the ventilation system of Macomb Community College Sunday night has been identified as a 36-year-old Clinton Township resident.
The man, Jason Anthony Thompson, was last seen by his family on Oct. 25, school spokeswoman Jeanne Nicol said Monday. The family reported him missing on Nov. 1.
The body was found by college police responding to a complaint of a foul odor at the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts in Clinton Township, investigators said.
The death wasn’t suspicious, said William Leavens, the college police chief.
“At this point, it is important to remember that this an ongoing investigation, with the goal to understand the circumstances,” he said in a statement.
The reason Thompson was in the ventilation system wasn’t discussed by police. The Macomb County medical examiner’s office is trying to determine the cause of death.
“Our deepest condolences go out to his family,” Leavens said.
