The DNA of four previous presidents will be launched into space as the ultimate monument.

Celestis, the industry leader in space funerals, will spearhead the effort to memorialize George Washington, John F. Kennedy, Dwight D. Eisenhower, and Ronald Reagan by sending their genetic information into space aboard its Enterprise Flight.

Gene Roddenberry, Majel Barrett Roddenberry, and Nichelle Nichols, among others, will also be honored for their contributions to Star Trek. The relics of 2001: A Space Odyssey visual effects master Douglas Trumbull will also be transported.

Beyond constructing the first human base in deep space, the solutions lie in potential discoveries and off-world genetic and data storage, according to a blog post published by the corporation.

The rocket is expected to transport the collected DNA to deep space — around 93 million to 186 million miles from Earth — and the corporation has stated that one of their goals for launching the remains is to increase the presence of humans throughout the universe.

“Celestis’s primary objective is to facilitate human expansion throughout the solar system. By incorporating the genetic material of these American icons into Enterprise, we create a prototype for future human missions and contribute to the record of human exploration of deep space, “Charles M. Chafer, co-founder and CEO of Celestis, stated as much.
