Ozayne and Amanda Campbell share a history that goes back to their high school days. But, the two officially became a couple 11 years ago. The flames of passion were fanned by a mutual belief that they were destined for each other. Interestingly, Ozayne vividly recalls Amanda being the one to drop the subtle hints of interest, setting the stage for their sizzling romance.
It was a good thing that Amanda expressed herself to Ozayne, because, as time passed, their connection remained. That very year, they embarked on a journey into romance, undeterred by their youth and the vastness of life ahead. Their shared desire to grow and explore life together has kept them inseparable ever since.
“I met the girl of my dreams. When our eyes locked it was literally love at first sight,” Ozayne told Island Wedding.
“I honestly realised I found the one when we locked eyes at ages 12 and 13. It was like our souls aligned immediately. I cannot truly describe the feeling in words, but butterflies filled my stomach, and we stared into each other’s eyes for quite some time,” Amanda revealed.
Their first date might be considered a bit unconventional, as they journeyed to KFC in Half-Way Tree. Choosing to keep it simple, the couple enjoyed a delicious meal, then took photographs together at Nelson Mandela Park.
Amanda was smitten by Ozayne’s love for everything around him and his considerate nature towards his family. On the other hand, Ozayne loved Amanda’s no-nonsense, straightforward attitude and her huge yet tender heart.
“It is still hard to believe that I get to spend the rest of my life with such a perfect woman. I thank God for blessing me with her. I won’t drop the ball with this one,” Ozayne said.
On January 6, Ozayne decided that he wanted to spend the rest of this life nestled comfortably in the arms of his loving companion. He popped the question during his birthday celebrations, surrounded by family and friends at the South Avenue Grill. Amanda’s heart echoed a resounding ‘yes’, and in that moments the depth of their relationship became more intertwined.
“We told each other that we would continue loving each other and work hard at each other until we have grown into the ideal life we have envisioned and are working towards. Ozayne is the calmer of us two and handles pressure with a smile. At times, he can be more laid-back, while I am the one who have to always be prepared and organised,” Amanda said.
“We have ambitious attitudes, very proud, yet try not to be boastful in what we do and accomplish,” Ozayne added.
Ozayne and Amanda tied the knot on August 20, 2023, at The Chapel at the University of the West Indies Mona campus. The choice of a church ceremony fulfilled a long-held desire for both of them, and they were truly enchanted by the exquisite scenery of the gardens surrounding the chapel.
The couple opted for burgundy and champagne as their signature colours, creating a rich and elegant theme. Over 75 guests attended the elaborate ceremony, which included 11 individuals in the bridal party. Interestingly, there were two best men, adding a unique touch to the celebration.
The seamless coordination of the entire event was orchestrated by a close family friend, Kimone Johnson.
For their honeymoon, the couple had initially planned to travel the world together, but decided to enjoy their island home instead, enjoying a relaxing stay at the Hilton Rose Hall Resort in Montego Bay.
“I love my wife. She has been a light through many storms with me, and a sheath for my sword after I had overcome many battles,” Ozayne said.
