WEATHER: Gravel roads remain muddy, but other travel issues subsiding after Saturday’s heavy snow

The risk of patchy freezing fog hasn’t led to any travel issues — at least to this point Tuesday morning.

The risk of fog, combined with air temperatures around 20 degrees, is the latest travel hazard for the area after anywhere from 5-11 inches of snowfall Saturday.

Travel conditions improved both Sunday and Monday as high temperatures climbed above freezing both days. Emporia’s major arterials and residential streets are now either largely clear or seasonal, meaning isolated to widely scattered icing. Side streets were a mix of clear to icy early Tuesday.

Lyon County’s paved roads are clear. Gravel roads are passable but muddy and may be that way for a few more days. Kandrive.org shows all area highways are now clear.

Two area school districts have made schedule adjustments. USD 251 North Lyon County and USD 330 Mission Valley are both on 2-hour delays.
