In an unfortunate turn of events, celebrated fashion designer Rohit Bal has been admitted to the Medanta Hospital in Delhi NCR and is struggling with his life. He is reportedly on ventilator support. The fashion designer who has a pre-existing cardiac condition was initially taken to the Moolchand Hospital in the national capital, however, his condition deteriorated and he was rushed to Medanta. After being admitted to the hospital a few days back, he was recently put on ventilator support and is said to be in a critical condition.
“His heart was and he was in an unconscious state. His pacemaker gave seven shocks. Initially, he was taken to the Moolchand. Later, when his condition deteriorated, he was taken to Medanta,” HT City reported citing close sources.
The 62-year-old who had reportedly struggled with alcohol addiction had been in and out of rehab. In November last year, his condition took a turn for the worse, following which he was admitted to the Medanta hospital. A close friend of his opened up about his condition and said, “He was in a very bad state and was almost dead. The doctors had to flush out alcohol and sleeping pills from his system when he was rushed to the hospital.”

Prior to that, in February 2010, he had faced a massive heart attack that required emergency angioplasty. Apart from these, Bal also suffering from pancreatitis which has only worsened over the years, leading to multiple hospital admissions in the last few months.

A celebrated fashion designer, known for ruling the fashion world for almost three decades now, Rohit Bal started his career in 1986 by co-founding Orchid Oversea Pvt. Ltd with his brother and later launched his solo collection in 1990.
Known for combining edgy styles with distinctly Indian crafts, he has showcased his collections at numerous fashion shows around the world and has also designed outfits for top celebrities in both India and abroad.
The designer has also won several awards including the Designer of the Year at the International Fashion Awards in 2001 and 2004, and also the Indian Fashion Awards in 2006.
Bal was also called India’s Master of Fabric and Fantasy by Time Magazine.
