NEWBURYPORT — Central Congregational Church’s annual Christmas fair takes place Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The fair has expanded to nine areas to discover, shop and enjoy: the basket raffle, Central Sweet Shoppe, cookie walk, The Country Store, Jewelry and Accessory Wonderland, Youth Fun! Room, good cause gifts, fresh hand-decorated wreaths, and The Fish Chowder and Sandwich Café.
In addition, for Invitation Night on Friday, the church invites folks to get a jump-start on buying entries for the basket raffle. This is also the opportunity to get first dibs on jewelry and accessories in its wonderland room. The Friday hours are 6 to 8 p.m.
“Our Christmas fair is more than a fundraiser. We look forward every year to creating a fun way to kick off the holiday season. That is why we named the event ‘It’s a Holly Jolly Christmas Fair’,” said Barbara Oswald, Christmas fair chairperson. “Our main goal is to offer a warm, welcoming and joyful experience for all. Our hope is that our attendees take away joy and share it where ever they go.”
New this year on the day of the fair is a “Youth Fun! Room.”. Kids can get their face painted by Newburyport High School (NHS) artists. There are make-and-take gifts for kids to create. In addition, accessibly priced items will be available for purchase by kids up to 13 years of age. All will be beautifully wrapped and ready to give. This year there are two rooms filled with 61 raffle baskets that range from a mountain bike, a basket chock full of kid’s crafts, to a hosted pool party for 20 people.
