Greener home gadgets that burden the earth a tad less

Be it climate change conversations, pollution worries or the problem of greenhouse gases, it all points to a global crisis. And like charity, becoming an eco-warrior starts at home.

Confused? Your gadgets at home contribute to carbon emissions. However, that doesn’t mean you have to make do without them. Low-carbon emission technology is the beacon of hope, guiding us towards a greener, more sustainable future.

“Carbon emissions, primarily in the form of carbon dioxide (CO2), have pushed our planet to the brink. But it’s not just the environment that bears the brunt. Carbon emissions also have a detrimental effect on human health. Air pollution, a byproduct of these emissions, contributes to respiratory illnesses and decreases the overall quality of life for millions around the world,” says Rajesh Sachdev, CEO, Blutherm, a company specialising in sustainable gadgets.

Sachdev explains the significance of low-carbon-emission indoor gadgets and the transformative impact they can have on our lives and the environment.

Indoor emissions

“While we diligently address the external impacts of carbon emissions, a more insidious challenge lurks within our homes,” says Sachdev. Everyday activities, such as cooking, heating and cleaning, release carbon pollutants indoors, compromising our indoor air quality and, consequently, our health. “It’s a reminder that the quest for a healthier life extends beyond the outdoors and encompasses the very spaces we reside in,” he adds.

Sustainable living

At the forefront of the sustainable living revolution are companies dedicated to making a difference. “Energy-efficient water heating systems exemplify the commitment to sustainability. Leveraging cutting-edge technology, these systems not only provide hot water but also significantly reduce carbon emissions. It’s a harmonious blend of comfort and responsibility, marking a vital step toward a cleaner future,” says Sachdev.

According to Sachdev, one of the best sustainable solutions is the heat pump water heater, which is efficient and can reduce energy consumption by up to 60 per cent. “It works by transferring heat from the air or the ground to heat the water,” he explains.

Breathe easy

Ventilation often goes unnoticed, yet plays a pivotal role in maintaining indoor air quality. “Facilitate air circulation to minimise indoor pollution. This ensures fresh air is always available for healthy living,” says Sachdev. His brand has been creating products that help with this.

Liquid asset

New-age water purification and filtration technologies offer wonderful solutions. “Nanotechnology is one of the most promising water filtration technologies. More specifically, scientists have harnessed nano particles that release silver ions into water,” says Sachdev, adding, “Since silver is a well-documented antimicrobial agent, these microscopic particles destroy contaminants and guarantee clean and safe drinking water.”

The way forward

As we navigate the complex landscape of carbon emissions and their far-reaching effects, low-carbon emission technology emerges as a guiding star. “This collective endeavour to reshape our relationship with the environment represents a significant stride towards a healthier tomorrow. Low-carbon-emission indoor gadgets are the tech of the future,” says Sachdev.
