Eleanor Tomlinson has explained why she chose to wear her outfits in the new sensual thriller The Couple Next Door.
The six-part drama debuted on Monday. Its characters explore their darkest desires, and couples become physically intertwined on a sweltering night that transforms their lives forever.
Despite the show’s provocative theme, the actress was adamant about not getting naked in front of the camera, claiming that it was a necessary action.
“I have done nudity before but, for me, it’s based on each project and how necessary I feel it is. And I didn’t feel like it was for this,” she added, “I actually think not having it makes it more interesting… For me, it has to be character-driven.”
Tomlinson, on the other hand, believes it is also about self-preservation. According to her, naked scenes are a “very serious” subject for performers because they are exposing themselves to be photographed, and such photographs are forever archived on the internet.
She revealed that at several moments in her career, she was pressured to leave her clothing hanging and go bare, but the actress always takes a firm stance when it matters.
