The Washington Pavilion in central Sioux Falls announced in a press release the opening of its newly renovated café, The WP, following its completion Tuesday.
The café is said to offer an enhanced dining experience and cozy space for new and returning visitors.
The renovations to the café include a revamped menu, a new serving counter, new flooring and lighting, food displays and retail shelving, kid-friendly seating areas and colorful wall features. Daily rotating hot entrées, market-fresh sandwiches, scoop-n-serve salads, soups, kids’ meals and homemade pastries are some of the items on the new menu.

The Washington Pavilion, situated in the heart of downtown Sioux Falls, is home to a fusion of performing arts, visual arts and interactive science and educational opportunities. The establishment houses two state-of-the-art theaters, the Mary W. Sommervold Hall and Belbas Theater, eight art galleries within the Visual Arts Center, the Kirby Science Discovery Center for science exhibits, the Wells Fargo CineDome & Sweetman Planetarium and the Graham Academy Preschool within the education department.
Darrin Smith, President and CEO of Washington Pavilion Management, said he is thrilled with how the transformation turned out and how the atmosphere of the space has shifted because of these final renovations.
“From the way you order to the inviting dining area to the new, tasty menu, we have nailed this upgrade to our café and we cannot wait to get the community in here to experience it,” Smith stated in the release.

The café has also adjusted its hours of operation and now will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Hours will extend to Monday during the summer. This change makes the café align more closely with the hours of the Kirby Science Discovery Center and Visual Arts Center.
An official grand opening will take place in December with more details to come.
