FLINT — Mott Community College’s (MCC) Fine Arts Gallery will present “The Next Step,” an exhibition of artworks by the Associate of Fine Arts Degree Candidates from the Studio Arts Program.
This exhibition will run from Dec. 4-Jan. 19.
The exhibition is a diverse fusion of styles and genres featuring Julia Churchman, of Fenton, Brandon Emmons, of Holly, Samantha Crow, of Clio, Kobe Gilbert, of Flint, and Patience Jones, of Flint.
The students will present works that are part of an artist portfolio they have been building for the duration of their degree. This degree is designed for students who plan to transfer to a university or art school and major in art or design. The program focuses on art foundation classes and general education requirements that will transfer to other institutions.
“Students in Mott Community College’s Studio Arts program take a variety of foundation-level and advanced-level studio arts courses before graduating with their Associates of Fine Arts degree. As a capstone to their studies, students take ART 204: Foundations Portfolio, a course that helps them learn how to develop their portfolio and prepare themselves to become professional artists. This exhibition highlights their work while celebrating their journey as Studio Art majors at Mott Community College,” said Tim Kranz, Professor of Art.
The MCC Fine Arts Gallery is located in room 128 of the Visual Arts and Design Center on the College’s main campus in Flint at 1401 E. Court St. 48503. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The exhibition and any presentations are free and open to the public.
