Fascist forces exert undue influence on television content: Actor Gayathri

Malayalam Actor Gayathri has launched a scathing attack against the union government for endorsing regressive politics. She accused the corporate companies of controlling the prime-time television content in the country. Gayathri claimed that influential people exert undue influence on television serials and other content on TV to broadcast them in a manner which suits their narrative and serves their vested interests.

“For example, in Malayalam, we have almost 35-40 serials being aired every day. In how many of these serials can you see the central character playing the role of a Muslim or Christian? I bet no such serials are running on primetime on our television channels. The undue influence works differently in the movies. Savarna fascist thoughts/forces rule the roost in every sphere. That’s the sad reality,” said the actor.

“In fact, a group of 126 people sets the agenda for our country. The rest of us are insignificant. The triad includes the media, the corporates, Modi and Amit Shah. They are fulfilling their whims and wishes by diminishing the significance of our democracy and by hurting the secular fabric of our country,” said Gayathri.

The popular actor accused the Narendra Modi government of having a nexus with the corporates.

Meanwhile, Gayathri heaped praise on the CPM leaders in Kerala for their commitment towards the people. She defended the government’s decision to purchase the luxurious Nava Kerala Bus amidst the acute financial crisis by stating that the bus would help reduce traffic on the road compared to those created by convoys of ministers.
