On Biz: Napoli’s, Storage Masters

Cutting edge facility opens for Storage Masters renters

Storage Masters’ owner Brian Wofford recently expanded the storage unit facility located on Southside Drive in Decatur.

The original, one-story building was purchased in 2018. “About a year ago I decided I wanted to build a two-story here,” Wofford said. “And I wanted a tech-savvy building. No locks. It all works from your phone.”

The new facility has 287 units. The 20 handicap accessible units’ doors will automatically open for the renters. The elevator is one of the largest available to the industry, the owner said. Hours for the facility are 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. The office is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Information about dimensions and other resources are available at storagemasters.net.

The automated service is new to the industry, according to Wofford. “So far we haven’t had that many problems,” he said.

However, the owner said a smartphone is necessary to use the new building’s various access doors. “I’m still amazed at how many people still have flip phones,” he said.

Central Illinois agriculture has new opportunities

For those who still prefer a key to open a storage unit, the original facility remains open. “This is just to compliment that,” Wofford said about the new two-story building.

Packing and moving supplies are for sale at the entrance of Storage Masters. Renters are also able to use the moving trucks for free during the first two weeks of the unit rental. However, service fees will be charged.

Storage Masters has units available on West Main Street, Woodford Street and Mount Zion Road. “But this is the one with all the modern stuff,” Wofford said.

Napoli’s adding second Central Illinois location

Diners remain calm. The owners of Napoli’s Italian Restaurant say there are no plans to close the downtown Decatur restaurant.

In fact, its two successful years at 134 E. Main St. have set the stage for the business to expand its reach with the addition of another location in Champaign sometime next year.

Napoli’s, another new restaurant in downtown Decatur, has been open since May.

Quincy already has its own Napoli’s Italian Bistro, located in the Atrium Hotel, which opened nearly a year ago. “But this is the first restaurant,” said employee Vincenzo Eleci, referring to the Decatur location.

Eleci has been waiting on customers who often question if the Decatur restaurant will be closing. “I just met someone today who was asking,” he said. “But everything here is safe and good.”

However, its hours have changed. “From Monday through Thursday, we are open from 4 to 9 o’clock,” Eleci said. “Friday, Saturday and Sunday, we are open all day for lunch and for dinner (11 a.m. to 9 p.m.).”
