Simu Liu reported a strange health issue as the cause for his absence from the 2023 Candlelight Processional at Disney World.
The actor, 34, took to Instagram Stories earlier this week to express his disappointment at having to cancel his appearance at the last minute.
“For those who are looking forward to seeing me, know that I was equally looking forward to be a part of your holidays,” the statement said, according to People. “The health of myself and my family are of paramount importance to me.”
The Shang-Chi star put his hidden medical condition over the committment, saying he is “absolutely gutted” at how the event played out.
Liu rekindled his followers’ enthusiasm by hinting to his appearance at the EPCOT Christmas celebration the following year. “Let’s all keep our fingers crossed for 2024!” he exclaimed.
While the actor’s most recent health issue is unknown, he did have surgery in October after inadvertently ripping his Achilles tendon during a “Olympic-style tournament of sports” with his buddies in Miami, according to the site.
Soon later, the Barbie actress remarked on Instagram, “Achilles tears aren’t so bad when you’ve got twenty of your best friends to carry you around.”
“Thanks for the ultimate friends sports weekend, I miss walking but I miss you all more,” that’s what he said at the time.
