Court Finds Brad Pitt in Contempt for Failure to Pay Taxes

Brad Pitt has lost a lawsuit he filed against tax officials.

He had considerably reduced the value of his vineyard, Château Miraval, so that he would not have to pay any further tolls on it.

According to court documents, the amount was reduced by 21 million euros, causing this plot to fail as the French excise department swiftly discovered what was going on.

The Administrative Court of Appeal of Marseille confirmed the claims in a resolution drafted on November 24, finding that the tax changes made to “minimize possession value” are correct.

This statement is public, thus it is available on the website of the French government. However, it is unclear what punishment Pitt will face.

Château Miraval is a 1,200-acre vineyard in the south of France’s Var region that stretches “along an ancient Roman road and contains multiple structures from the 17th century.”

The actor bought it with ex-wife Angelina Jolie in 2008 after demonstrating a “controlling interest.”

On February 17, 2022, he sued the Lara Croft actress for selling her stake of the company without his permission. Since then, the estate has attracted more international notice.

“He’s gotten away with too much,” one critic comments.
