New book to look at Limerick’s Protestant community during the country’s revolution

A NEW book will take a deeper look at the experiences of Limerick’s Protestant community during the nation’s revolutionary period.

It will feature a new collection of essays edited by Dr Seán William Gannon, Limerick City and County Library Service, and Dr Brian Hughes, Department of History, Mary Immaculate College.

The collection of essays is part of Limerick City and County Council’s Decade of Centenaries programme, which has taken part over 2023.

Histories of Protestant Limerick, 1912–1923 comprises ten original essays authored by established and emerging scholars exploring the experience of Limerick’s Protestant communities during the revolutionary period.

During this period, Protestants formed less than five per cent of the population.
