Tiffany Haddish may be smiling after her second DUI arrest, but her friends can see right through it.
After Haddish, 44, was discovered slumped over the steering wheel of her automobile and jailed for DUI on November 24th, her family is concerned about underlying issues that may be fuelling her self-sabotaging behavior.
“As soon as I heard it, I said, ‘god… I’m glad she’s okay. But it seems weird to me,” a pal of the actress and comedian told The Post via Radar Online.
“You would think that someone would have a driver in that situation. This is tough because there’s nothing anybody’s gonna say to take away that this is her second offense,” she said, referring to Haddish’s first DUI arrest in Georgia last year.
The source’s remark concerning Haddish’s second DUI was correct, since Georgia prosecutors now want to change her initial bond conditions to prevent her from taking drugs or alcohol.
Despite the fact that there is a lesson for Haddish to be learnt here, the source protected her from public scrutiny, saying, “If people want to be critical, I say f**k that – you don’t know what a person is going through. You don’t know what’s troubling a person.”
Though she made light of the issue by returning to The Laugh Factory and joking about her detention, other close friends of Haddish earlier stated to Page Six that her arrest was “surprising” given the obstacles she had surmounted to get to where she is.
Haddish, to her credit, later promised to “get some help” and assured that “this will never happen again.”
