Ashley Cain has announced to fans that he will become a father for the second time, two years after the death of his newborn girl Azalyia.
The TV star, 33, and his ex-partner Safiyya Vorajee, 36, tragically lost their eight-month-old daughter after she battled a rare form of cancer.
Azalyia was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia at the age of eight weeks, with tumors on her lungs, stomach, and kidneys.
She received numerous rounds of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, but she died on April 24, 2021, at the age of eight months, after a valiant battle.
However, in an interview with The Sun, the former footballer said that he is about to become a father for the second time, and his young child was the first person he told.
While Ashley has not revealed the baby’s mother’s identity, he has stated that they have been friends since they were 18 and have met up on and off throughout the years.
When asked how he felt after hearing the news, he admitted it was difficult to accept, but he feels every child is a blessing.
‘In the back of my head I didn’t really know how to deal or cope with it if it was a little girl. It could have been fine but it could have been heartbreaking all over again and I wasn’t sure,’ he added of learning he is having a boy.
