The British Fashion Awards served some major beauty moments – here’s 20 of the best

The UK’s answer to the Met Gala – The British Fashion Awards – is the most stylish event on the British fashion calendar. Taking place on the first Monday of December, it brings together the great and good of the fashion, arts and entertainment industry to raise funds for the British Fashion Council Foundation, which supports young and emerging talent in fashion to nurture and grow their businesses.

Unsurprisingly, the evening is all about glamour, maximalism, experimenting and expression, so the beauty looks are taken very seriously. On the same stretch of carpet, you can expect to see an impeccably executed Hollywood wave, next to an out-there painterly makeup look.

This year, the guests didn’t disappoint. Rita Ora paired a black backless gown with chrome stegosaurus spikes scattered down her spine… because, why not? The prosthetics were created by top experimental makeup artist, Isamaya Ffrench, and paired with the silver accessories Rita wore on her wrists and ears.

Likewise, FKA Twigs paired her twist-out hair with statement silver earrings and a silver nose cuff that matched her sheer silver-weave dress. And Jodie Comer embellished her side-parted hair with a stack of silver accessories.

Winnie Harlow remixed her choppy pixie cut with a mullet-esque hair piece at the back (proof that prissy hair isn’t necessarily the best sidekick to a red carpet gown). And Maisie Williams leant into the coquette beauty trend with a delicately latticed bead and bow headpiece veiling her eyes, updated with a punchy deep purple lip.

These were some of our favourite beauty moments from the British Fashion Awards…
