WHITLEY CITY, Ky. –  One person is dead following a collision in McCreary County.

The Kentucky State Police says it responded for a single-vehicle fatal collision that happened shortly after 5:45 p.m. on Monday.

Troopers say they arrive at the scene located at 3500 block of Beulah Heights Road.

KSP says it learned a 2002 GMC Sonoma operated by Earl Crabtree, 85, of Pine Knot, Kentucky was traveling north on Beulah Height Road when he lost control of his vehicle. Crabtree’s vehicle left the right side of the road, striking a tree, according to authorities.

Crabtree was entrapped in his vehicle and had to be freed by the Whitley City Fire Department, authorities say.
