According to TMZ, Britney, 42, is attempting to reconcile with her estranged father, Jamie Spears, 71, who is battling severe health difficulties and medical emergencies, including a limb amputation.
However, Page Six later reported that rumors of a father-daughter reconciliation are just that – rumors – and that Britney is not yet ready to make atonement.
The outlet’s source also denied that Spears “misses” Jamie or that she had considered offering him financial assistance during his difficulties.
Though the Princess of Pop has apparently been reaching out to her family — mother Lynne Spears, sister Jamie Lynn Spears, and brother Bryan Spears – her connection with her father remains strained following their harsh conservatorship struggle.
Spears revealed her turbulent relationship with her father in her recent memoir, The Woman In Me, describing decades of emotional, physical, and financial abuse during her 13-year conservatorship.
“I began to think that he saw me as put on the earth for no other reason than to help their cash flow,” she wrote of her father’s authority.
Though Jamie stays hopeful because “there’s nothing he’d rather have” than a reconciliation, Britney looks to be firm in her decision.
According to the source, Spears would “never forgive him for the abuses and trauma he caused.”
