Halle Berry opened out about her connection with Angelina Jolie and how their peculiar circumstances brought them together.
The Catwoman alum, who will co-star and co-produce the film Maude v Maude alongside Jolie, revealed to Variety at the Red Sea Film Festival in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, that the two stars “had a rocky start.”
“We had a rocky start and I think that is going to serve us well in our screen time together,” Berry added.
The X-Men star, 57, continued, “thrilled to work with another woman and craft a story with our sensibility and from our point of view. She is formidable.”
Berry revealed that the reason for their rocky start has a “good” tale that she plans to discuss later. She did, however, reveal that her friendship with Jolie, 48, was strengthened by the things they share.
“We’ve been talking a lot about divorces and exes. We bonded, let’s say that,” she said.
Berry filed for divorce from her son’s father, Olivier Martinez, in 2015.
Jolie, for her part, divorced Brad Pitt in 2016 after 12 years of marriage. Following their breakup, the ex-couple has been embroiled in a series of contentious legal fights.
Maude vs. Maude is an action-thriller film in which Berry and Jolie will purportedly compete “physically and intellectually” on the big screen.
