Lizzo Is About to Get a BMAC Award for ‘Giving Black Women Space’

At the 2023 Black Music Action Coalition (BMAC) Gala, Lizzo will be given an award. The Quincy Jones Humanitarian Award will be given to the rapper.

According to the statement, the co-founder of BMAC said, “The Black Music Action Coalition is proud to honor Lizzo at this year’s Gala, as she joins a group of trailblazers who has made an immense impact within the music industry and beyond.”

BMAC says that they are proud of the people who are being honored because they “who pushed boundaries, amplified voices, and created space for black women.”

A news release says that the Good As Hell singer will be given an award for her “charitable work and dedication to social justice.”

The singer-songwriter is known for fighting for social justice and helping people who have been left out.

Lizzo was recently slandered after her backup dancers sued her and said she had harassed them sexually, religiously, and racially. In spite of the charges, The Black Enterprise says that BMAC “recognizes the good work she does.”

Along with Lizzo, BMAC will honor Sylvia Rhone, a well-known music producer. The CEO of Epic Rhodes, who is the first woman to run a Fortune 500 record company, will get the Clarence Avant Trailblazer Award.

There are also awards for Keke Palmer, Jermaine Dupri, and Jesse Collins.
