Gigi Hadid was taken into custody while she was on vacation in the Cayman Islands. According to E! News, the model was arrested on July 10 and has since been let go. A Customs and Border Control Officer nabbed Hadid and her friend Leah Nicole McCarthy after finding marijuana in their luggage.

Cayman Marlroad, a local news source, said, “Both female passengers were arrested on suspicion of Importation of Ganja and Importation of Utensils used for the consumption of ganja. They were both taken to the Prisoner Detention Center for processing and subsequently released on bail pending a ruling on the case by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.” On July 12, two days later, Hadid and McCarthy “appeared in Summary Court and were charged.” They admitted guilt and were each fined $1,000, but there was no record of a judgment.

A representative for Hadid told E! News what was going on. They said that Gigi was traveling with marijuana that she had bought properly in New York City with a medical license. “It has also been legal for medical use in Grand Cayman since 2017. Her record remains clear, and she enjoyed the rest of her time on the island.”

Zayn Malik, who used to date Hadid, talked about his life and work on the Caller Her Daddy podcast before the news about her arrest came out. They talked about how well Malik and Hadid can raise their 2-year-old daughter together. “That time I have with her is so important because I feel like she’s grown up so fast,” Malik told host Alex Cooper. “When I’m with her, I don’t work. I just spend a full day with her doing what she wants to do, like painting, Play-Doh, this, that, go to the park, theme park, go to the zoo, like we just have fun.”

Malik also gave some information about the rumors that Hadid’s mother, Yolanda, was physically hurt. “I just didn’t want to bring attention to anything,” Malik said. He added that he wasn’t “trying to get into a negative back and forth” with Yolanda or “any kind of story online where my daughter would look back and read that.” It didn’t matter.” He also said, “I believe I dealt with it in the best way, an amicable, respectful way, and that’s all that needs to be said.” Malik pleaded “no contest” to four charges of harassing Yolanda in October 2021. He was given a term of 360 days of probation and programs to help him control his anger and stop hurting his family.
