Beyoncé Faces Accusations of Stealing Artwork by Hajime Sorayama for the Song ‘Renaissance’

Queen Bey is accused of plagiarism… and the BeyHive is not pleased.

Following the enormous success of Beyoncé’s Renaissance world tour and concert video, Japanese designer Hajime Sorayama accused her of stealing his work.

Soryama expressed his dissatisfaction on Instagram on Monday that the highest-earning Grammy winner did not seek his permission before allegedly using his characteristic futuristic sketches and concepts into her Renaissance tour visuals.

Sorayama addressed the Halo diva in an Instagram photo, writing in the caption, “Yo @beyonce. You should have asked me ‘officially’ so I could do much greater work for you like my man @theweeknd.”

The caption followed a carousel post in which visual similarities were drawn between Beyoncé’s work and Sorayama’s original designs.

The first image was from the concert, and it showed the Single Ladies singer wearing a chrome, alien-like headgear with silver lip rings.

However, as the following images demonstrated, the visuals were surprisingly similar to Sorayama’s designs, which typically incorporate sensual depictions of feminine robots.

Fans of Beyoncé, on the other hand, were not having it, with one pointing out to Saroyama, “You don’t own the Robot Hyper Feme Genre.”

Others questioned why he waited six months to talk about it.

Others, however, defended him, writing, “Yes, Metropolis is source inspo, but Hajime Sorayama has quite literally been a master and icon in the art and k!nk world for time, and Beyonce is 10000% referencing it.”
