ORANGE PARK, Fla — A 24-year-old man was killed when he was hit by a car in Orange Park Monday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A car was traveling southbound on US 17, south of Loring Avenue. 

The man tried to cross US 17 in an area “not designated for pedestrian crossing.” 

The right front side of the car hit the man, FHP said. The car stopped and stayed on the scene.

The man was pronounced dead on the scene.
