Aimee Connolly, owner of the aptly named Scultped By Aimee, explained there’s two major do’s and don’ts when it comes to perfecting your makeup look over the winter season. She noted it’s the perfect time to get glammed up and inject some sparkle into your beauty routine.

However, Aimee says this can be done with “minimal effort”. The brand owner said: “We believe in celebrating Christmas with a touch of glamour and a sprinkle of festive magic! At the same time, I know how busy the holiday period is for us all so using multi purpose products that help you achieve the perfect party season makeup look in minutes are so important!

“This holiday season, embrace timeless elegance with a hint of playful sparkle for looks that truly captivate, with minimal effort required.”

But, how do you do that? At times, getting the right balance between bold and understated can be difficult. The beauty brand owner and expert urged that focusing on your skin is super important to nail a festive look as it can help give a “healthy glow.”

And, of course, everyone loves a red lip at Christmas – including Aimee.

Festive makeup Do’s

“Do indulge in rich, velvety textures and don’t be afraid to add some sparkle to echo the opulence of the season,” Aimee declared. “Opt for a classic holiday season red such as our best selling Lip Duo in Ruby Rouge, featuring both a lip liner and lipstick, or easily add some depth and drama to your eye makeup using a shimmer palette, they are the perfect easy-to-use product for a splash of shimmer.

“Do focus on luminous skin with a radiant, healthy glow. Our Second Skin Dewy Foundation paired with one of our Beauty Base Primers is your secret weapon for achieving that coveted lit-from-within look. If you’re looking for a full coverage, party ready base, opt for our Satin Silk longwear foundation.”

Aimee says to add powder on top of this to help your makeup last the night while you dance your winter woes away. The good thing about a powder is that it can easily fit in your clutch so top ups throughout the night are simple if need be.

But if you’re feeling a little too matte from the powder, then you can bring out the glow again by using a highlighter. Aimee suggests to highlight the cheekbones, brow bones, and the cupid’s bow for a “dazzling finish that catches the Christmas lights.”

Festive makeup Dont’s

What about the festive makeup faux-pas? Although you shouldn’t be afraid to play around with bolder looks you wouldn’t usually wear, you don’t want to “overcomplicate” your makeup, Aimee says.

Building and blending are techniques that should be used to create a fun festive eyeshadow look that can be elevated with a bit of mascara. Aimee urged: “Don’t shy away from experimenting with bold statements! This is the time to let your creativity shine. Mix and match, blend, and build – the possibilities are as endless as the joy of the season. Add lashings of our Ultra Black to My Mascara to accentuate and add drama to your eye makeup.

The expert continued: “Don’t overcomplicate your look. Sometimes, less truly is more. A well-executed, understated makeup look can be just as impactful as a bold one.

“Choose a focus, whether it’s a statement eye or a captivating lip, and let that be your guiding star.”

Sculpted by Aimee opened their flagship store in Carnaby Street, London, in November that attracted a number of famous faces, including Sophie Habboo. The very pink store features 110 cruelty-free and multi-purpose products along with expert advice from makeup artists.
